Hello Competition Team families and fans. October is right around the corner. Many projects are underway here at Hunter Mountain. The Hunter West lift project is moving forward at a rapid pace. The look of the west side is going to take on a whole new appearance over the next couple seasons.
Speaking of appearances, our competition team program has gone through a few changes since the spring. Adult Racing - Masters Race Program is now apart of the competition team programs. Training will be based on the USSA/USST model featuring individual skill development and training in slalom and giant slalom. The December Masters Race Camp is now under the comp team. During our Christmas break, the six day block of training will now be open to young athletes that may not have access to consistent and quality training. Another new feature to the program is the establishment of a Freeskiing Team. This new team will compliment our existing snowboard team. The Freeskiing Team is a start-up, grassroots team. Its' goal is to capture the spirit and freedom of expression on snow. We expect a lot of learning and experimenting the first season and we ask for cooperation and patience from all of the athletes and parents as we trail blaze with this new team. Both the Snowboard and Freeskiing Teams will compete in the USASA Catskill Mountain Series events, with a goal of qualifying for the USASA National Championships.
This is just a taste of what is being planned for the 2011-2012 season and beyond.
