For Whom: Alpine ski racers; J3 /J4/J5 athletes

Philosophy: At the Green Mountain Valley School we believe that summer training camps should utilize on‐snow time efficiently and effectively, allowing campers to practice and master ski racing techniques. We strive to promote the athlete’s own love and excitement for the sport of ski racing while simultaneouslyinstilling the principles of hard work, discipline and competition. We believe that athlete participation in quality off‐snow activities is equally important. Each afternoon we organize fun and instructional ski‐specific dry landexercises and events.

Emphasis: We focus on the fundamentals of skiing and ski racing, including GS andSL technical progressions and tactics. Athletes will learn and practicetechnical drills/skills, gate train and free ski throughout the session. Throughextensive video analysis we provide daily feedback, helping athletes reachtheir greatest potential. Coaches will hold clinics on the latest ski tuningtechniques. Athletes will have an opportunity to test 2011‐2012 equipment.

Camp Schedule: 8 days of on‐snow training sessions, separated by 2 full activity days of camper choice: mountain biking, rock climbing or an indoor soccer challenge. The first three days of on‐snow instruction will concentrate on free skiing and technical drills/skills, utilizing the U.S. Ski Team’s on‐snow skills progression. During the next two days, we will focus on GS tactics and technique. Slalom technique and tactics will be taught the last three days. On the final day we will hold a fun slalom race for all campers and finish the day free skiing with coaches and friends. A cookout and awards ceremony for the entire camp will conclude the day.

Camp Daily Schedule:6:00 warm‐up/ 6:15 breakfast / 7:35 training / 9:30 snack on hill / 11:30 lunch on hill 1:30 Demo Skis-Boots/ 2:30 afternoon activity/ 6:00 dinner/ 7:30 video analysis8:30 free time/ 9:15 lights out

Camp Activities: We offer two full activity days of camper choice: rock climbing, a mountain biking trek in the Mt. Hood area or an indoor soccer challenge. Dailyafternoon activities include: soccer, hiking, volleyball, in‐line skating, swimming,strength and agility training and basketball.

Housing: Housing is included in the camp tuition. Athletes stay in coach‐supervisedhouses 20 minutes from Mount Hood in Welches, Oregon. Each house holds between 6 and 10 athletes and two staff members. Houses are arranged by gender and age to provide appropriate, comfortable accommodations. In addition, the lower altitude allows athletes to completely recover from each day’s training and sleep well at night.
