Hunter Coaches go to School

As you know, continuing coaches education is very important. This past spring, five coaches, one ski school member and one athlete attended a USSA Level 100 Alpine on-snow clinic held here at Hunter Mountain. This clinic is one of three steps needed to attain a USSA L100 certification. Click here to see what is involved. The coaches participated in a series of on-snow drills addressing specific areas of fundamental skill. After a full day of skiing, a classroom component was offered. This emphasized the skill areas, broke the skill into parts and why they are important. There was a review of video analysis, planning and organization. All of the coaches were evaluated on their skiing and were given information on how to better develop their own skiing.

This was the first of a series of in-house coaches education opportunities afforded to our staff.

This summer and fall I will be attending training as a USSA Sport Education Instructor as well as trainings to further my knowledge and skill levels. All combined will greatly benefit our coaches and our athletes.
